How to reach Rome
Here are some basic tips on how to reach Rome, the magnificent capital of Italy and the location of the conference.

Rome, known as the “Eternal City”, is easily accessible from major international destinations thanks to its two main airports: Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) and Ciampino. The city is also well connected by high-speed trains and highways if you’re traveling from other parts of Italy or Europe.

By plane – Fiumicino
Rome-Fiumicino Airport, officially known as Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, is Italy’s main international gateway and is located about 32 km southwest of the city center.
It is the busiest airport in Italy and one of the most important in Europe, serving over 40 million passengers annually in recent years.
The airport reached a record in 2019, handling more than 43.5 million passengers.
Fiumicino Airport is well-equipped and modern, with four terminals (T1, T3, T5 in use; T2 currently closed), offering a wide range of services, shops, and transport connections to Rome via train (Leonardo Express), bus, taxi, or car rental.
By plane – Ciampino
Rome-Ciampino Airport, officially named Giovan Battista Pastine Airport, is the second airport serving Rome, located about 15 km southeast of the city center.
Originally a military airfield, it now handles mainly low-cost and charter flights, particularly operated by airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air.
Ciampino is a smaller and more accessible airport compared to Fiumicino, with a single terminal and essential services. It offers convenient transport options to reach central Rome, including bus shuttles, regional trains from the nearby Ciampino railway station, taxis, and car rentals.
By Train
Roma Termini is the main railway station in Rome and one of the busiest in Europe, with over 150 million passengers passing through it every year.
More than 800 trains operated by Trenitalia and Italo run daily from Termini, connecting Rome to all major Italian cities, including Florence (1h 30m), Naples (1h 10m), Milan (3h 10m), Venice (3h 45m), and many others.
Roma Termini is also a key public transport hub in the city, directly connected to both Metro lines A and B, a wide network of urban buses, regional trains, and airport shuttles.
From Termini, you can easily reach Fiumicino Airport (via Leonardo Express), Ciampino Airport, and all areas of Rome and the Lazio region.
The station itself is modern and spacious, offering numerous services including shops, restaurants, tourist information, and luggage storage.
By Car/Bus (from Rome)
Reaching Rome by car is convenient thanks to its extensive highway connections. The city is well-served by major motorways such as the A1 (Autostrada del Sole), linking it to Milan and Naples.
From northern, southern, or central Italy, driving to Rome offers flexibility and the chance to explore scenic routes along the way.
Be aware of the ZTL (Limited Traffic Zones) in the city center and consider using park-and-ride options.
Always check traffic updates and road conditions, especially during holidays or rush hours, to ensure a smooth arrival in Italy’s vibrant capital.
