The 3rd International One-Health Conference 2024 was set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean, a region emblematic of humanity’s interconnected challenges, including climate change and maternal and child health issues.
This region serves as a nexus where risks, vulnerabilities, and exposures converged, highlighting the need for an integrated approach inspired by frameworks like the UN Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

“The One Health Conference 2024 brought together over 90 distinguished speakers and contributors from leading academic, governmental, and international organizations, reflecting the high quality and interdisciplinary depth of the event’s scientific and policy dialogue.”

Embracing the Sendai Framework’s perspective, the conference delved into the intricate dynamics of risk, with a particular emphasis on climate change as a key driver that amplified hazards. It shone a light on the increased vulnerabilities faced by mothers and children, exacerbated by socio-economic inequality, limited access to healthcare, and environmental degradation. These factors illustrated the critical need for immediate and targeted interventions, as the heightened exposure of these populations to climate-related threats deepened existing health inequalities.

The conference advocated for collaborative efforts across disciplines to mitigate risks and enhance resilience.
By leveraging the principles of One Health, it aimed to promote holistic solutions that integrated human, animal, and environmental health considerations. Through knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives, the conference sought to empower communities to adapt and thrive in the face of climate challenges.

The conference centered on a 5 Areas designed to tackle the complex dimensions of One Health Vulnerability and Risks . This framework offered fresh perspectives and strategies for addressing arboviral infections in the face of climate change and environmental challenges.

TWIN EVENTS

The TWIN EVENTS program for the 3rd International One-Health Conference 2024 aims to extend the impact and reach of the main conference by organizing satellite events along the road to the conference, scheduled for October 2024. These satellite events will serve as forums for stakeholders to engage with critical issues related to climate change, maternal and child health, and the principles of One Health in diverse geographical contexts leading up to the main event.

In 2024 One-Health Chairs has participated as invited speakers to more than 10 TWIN EVENTS in the full year and hosted the satellite event “Exploring One-Health Dimensions: Experience and Case Studies” at MedLife 24 conference

Through the TWIN EVENTS program, local communities, policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to participate in discussions, workshops, and capacity-building sessions tailored to their specific needs and priorities. These events will foster collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and action-oriented dialogue, ultimately contributing to the development of innovative solutions and strategies to address complex health challenge
